Hi All, New to Rc in general and have purchased a UDI 829A . Charging the battery is a long process and was wondering if anyone can recommend a faster more advanced balance charger than the one that came with it ? Happy to get a fairly decent charger to use in future so something that is good to use with high end / larger batteries wont be a waste . Cheers and thanks for any advice . P.S have also purchased a couple of extra batteries to extend flying time at the park so is there a multiple charging setup ?
Hi Ant, To be honest almost any proper charger will be better and faster than the one that comes with the UDI, or most other supplied chargers that come free with quadcopters and drones. You could spend about $80/£50ish and get a decent charger for this and a few other things. 80w cheapo Turnigy chargers from Amazon or Hobbyking work okay. Or the Overlander 1-6 Cell 80W 6a AC/DC Balance Charger works well. Or the Sigma EQ 80w charger is a bit better I think, or the Sigma EQ Hyper 200w is more powerful, probably the highest wattage you can get that plugs into a wall socket. Any more watts than that and you have to buy a separate power supply to go with the charger, with costs running up to many hundreds of dollars, but you probably don't really need those to start with. You can buy or make a charge lead that will plug into any of the above chargers mentioned like this one Where you can charge six batteries for your UDI at once.
RE: Balance Chargers Many thanks Jonathan, might pop down to the local hobby shop and see what they have . Will let you know how i get on .
RE: Balance Chargers Overlander do an excellent charger, 240v or 12v in, which is useful when in the field, charge li-po, Ni-cd, Pb, fast, slow, balance, discharge program's for the money it's very good, use mine all the time http://www.overlander.co.uk/overlander-rc6-vsp-80watt-7a-output-ac-dc-charger-with-fan.html
