I don't know if any of you have seen this, but I'll share it here anyway... http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/video?id=9271309&pid=9270668 I think it's disappointing to see rather reckless flying in such a dangerous situation. Watching the full flight video (link in the article), after he flies into the first building he should have returned home, however he continues flying. After crashing at around the 3:30 mark you can hear the sound of the motors/propellers changes which would suggest they've been damaged sufficiently by this point. I'm not saying we should blame the initial building collision on the pilot, winds through large cities can be unpredictable and fast, also there may have been some echo from the transmitter rebounding off some of those buildings. But I do think it was highly irresponsible to not bring it back to land after the initial crash. From the footage it is impossible to tell what (if any) damage has been sustained, obviously the pilot went on the basis that the quad seemed to perform normally so he would continue flight. I would like to see a follow up on this, I'd especially like the pilot to explain why he made the decisions he did... To the best of my knowledge the pilot does have a YouTube channel (I do believe I've watched a video or two of his) but I can't seem to find it
He shouldn't have been flying there really, not from a high-rise apartment anywhere really. Looks like a DJI Phantom?
Yes I think it was the phantom But you do have a point, he shouldn't have been flying in such a populated area, let alone from such an enclosed balcony. It was irresponsible flying with a disregard for safety which got worse with each decision made while he was in the air, I just hope the rest of the RC community isn't too badly affected by this.
