Hi, I'm planning to build a hexacopter over the next few weeks, I've already built a quadcopter however it didn't work. So I have an ardupilot (2.5), remote control and a few other pieces just lying around. Could you have a look over the pieces listed below and tell me what I need to change or improvements please. Thanks for your help in advance! Maximum Weight (g) Camera - 500 Gimbal - 500 Frame - 1000 (includes ESCs, motors, etc) Other (in case I forget something) - 500 Maximum Weight - 2500g Minimum Thrust required - 5000g Minimum Thrust Per Motor ~ 833g motors - http://rctimer.com/product-1633.html props - https://goo.gl/HsRS1b esc - https://hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbyking-40a-esc-4a-ubec.html battery - tbc frame - handmade Please Note: This is my first time posting on this forum so if I've done anything wrong please tell me.
What's that frame '1000', is that just the size or do you have one in mind? Oh, just notice at the bottom in says hand made. How are you making it?
What is the camera, 500g sounds quite heavy? You also need to take the weight of the battery/ies into account, seems quite close to being overweight from what you've written above? Oh, wait, I misread it. I guess it's quite a small hexacopter? Is it for fpv/racing?
Ideally I would like to build a small/medium hexacopter for hopefully under £200. I would like to be able for it to carry a 1KG payload (camera and gimbal) but I wanted to run it past someone else who has more experience than me.
I think I would go for 10 to 12 inch props. What is it for? Does it need to fly a long time? If you're stuck with the budget you could try what you have without the payload and see what weight you can add to it and how that affects the flight time etc?
This drone would be for filming, but on a low scale so at very most a 500g dslr camera, possibly a gimbal. Ideally a 10 min flight time but that might not be possible. If you could recommend some motors to go with the props that would be fantastic since I've been struggling to find some motors. At the moment I'm looking into what is possible for the budget before I build anything.
I think it will be very difficult to build a filming drone to carry a 500g dslr, say a Canon 100d or Sony NEX for example, within that budget. At a minimum I would want motors like this or similar spec: http://www.arrishobby.com/arris-4010-pro-380kv-multicopter-outrunner-brushless-motor-pr-1064 And 12 or 13 inch props, 1238 or 1347
