This is using the Advanced Flight Mode "Point of Interest". Manually flew the Inspire 1 to the center of the building pointing the camera straight down, marking that as the POI, then backing the drone to provide a good view and 'let her go' !
I wasn’t sure if it was POI because there are a few random movements it seems? Did you do a couple of manual adjustments with the left stick to realign as you flew round, or just completely leave it to itself? I never tried this with the inspire, so maybe it’s just not as smooth using less satellites and been older technology?
Nope! That's the Inspire doing the circles. I did change altitude and pivot the camera, but the Inspire was the one doing the "driving". I noticed that too, wasn't "perfect" circles. But since this was the first time using the Advanced Flight Mode I wasn't sure. Perhaps it's because the circles were so large? I dunno, will have to play with it some more.
I think maybe the circles are just more, erm, circular on the new phantoms etc because they're using a lot more satellites for positioning? I dunno, maybe I'm just imaging it though, but I've used it a lot with the phantom 4 Pro it it seems smoother on there.
The Phantom 4 is a lot newer than the Inspire 1. It could also be the wind, which seemed to be much higher than what UAVforecast told me it should be. (Look at the flags in the video!) But I think the reason the circles aren't as smooth as they should be is due to the size of the circles. Have you orbited a point-of-interest that far out?
Weather has been horrible on my side of the planet! Hurricane Florence headed to North and South Carolina, east coast United States! And it's been pushing rain, lots and lots of rain up to my neck of the woods.
I would have thought it would be smoother further out than closer in? I think most of my orbit are quite big circles, as least as big as the one you were doing?
Got a link to your video? I'd like to compare. If the weather ever gets better, I'd like to experiment with smaller circles, perhaps lower altitude, etc.
I went to Southampton myself to get a ship to New York. Some of the people we met on the ship had a walk round Southampton when it stopped there to pick us up, and went on a day trip to Stonehenge.
